My close friend keeps repeating that, “When you put it on and it makes you smile, then keep it on, you will keep it always. This is one that fulfills that box. And speaking of which–fashion editors are always showing how color psychology works into personal style. Happy colors = happy mindset.
Perhaps I would add a fuzzy pastel clutch or a cute mini backpack, but otherwise I would not change anything. This is a good look, but it can always be tilted to the whimsy according to your mood. And, yes, it is awesome inspiration to layer on when you are not ready to wear full-fledged winter coats.
Jewel Tones with a Twist
Green pants have green stripes and cobalt heels? Yes, please. This appearance is an education on contemporary jewel-colored gloss with a women garment that can walk the walk in NYC, shine in Japan, or move a head in a coffee shop during cool late autumn day. The baggy sweater combined with custom made pants is a balance between comfort and sophistication and the heels offer serious power.
The knit slouch is in balance with the crisp pattern of the trousers. And then there is the question of those sapphire blue heels- drama and yet at the same time making the entire outfit look more styled, not thrown together. I would suggest this appearance to those who would desire to play around with vivid color, but not to jump straight into a rainbow.
It reminds me of that viral street style of NYFW last season– a place where jewel tones were unashamedly piled on. Vogue was preaching that it is better to wear colors that are in the same saturation family and layer them, thus appear purposeful even though the items could be basic. That is what is happening here.
I would add to this appearance by adding a trench with sharp shoulders or even an oversized peacoat in navy to make this look even more personal. A crimson lipstick, or green accessories would be a cool way to tip-the hat to the richness of winter, yet keep things in a light spirit. It is also an awesome plus size or office outfit template when you replace loafers in place of heels and put on a belt over the knit.
