Winter Outfits Ideas 2025 / 2026: Trend Fashion Looks for Women to Try Now
Winter is coming – but your outfits don’t need to hibernate.
Are you stuck in the same old coat and boots combination every cold season? Wondering how to keep warm without giving up style? I’ve been there – and this year I’m challenging all of us (yes, you too) to think bolder, layer smarter and dress like the snow is our runway.
This guide digs into winter outfits 2025-2026 with inspiration taken right from the streets, the shows and honestly… my own wish list. From Gorpcore layering to Coquette fluff, these looks are not just trends, but winter armor for women who love fashion and hate freezing. So, let’s create a wardrobe which is warm, wearable and completely unforgettable.
Neutral Elegance with a Cozy Twist
This look is the definition of cold weather calm. It’s like drinking an oat milk latte while walking in the fresh snowfall – simple, warm and just elevated enough. The cropped teddy jacket exudes a lot of “wrapped-in-a-blanket” vibe, and the high-waisted seamless leggings keep the silhouette sleek. The entire palette is a beige-on-beige moment, and coupled with those glossy knee high boots? You’ve officially made it into the era of chic comfort. It’s an effortless nod to Stockholm style ladies who know how to combine minimalism and warmth.
This is what I refer to as a capsule ready look. The teddy texture adds that Soft natural coziness without looking bulky while the high-rise leggings are perfect for layering or lounging. The boots? Sleek, but with a sturdy appearance, offering this outfit a leg-lengthening appearance with a subtle power. I love how this ensemble combines fashion and functionality – a win for any woman who is building a wardrobe around aesthetic cold weather pieces.
Honestly this look reminds me of a trip I took upstate New York a weekend ago last winter. I wore something close to identical while exploring the small shops in Hudson – I felt pulled-together but never overdressed. According to stylist Allison Bornstein (as quoted in Who What Wear), “leaning into textures is one of the easiest ways to make a monochrome outfit look expensive.” And she’s absolutely right – this outfit nails that.
I would probably add a beanie in something more textured – maybe ribbed cashmere or chunky knit – to add a little texture here and there for all the smooth lines. And replace the boots with lug sole Chelsea boots if snow is expected. Layers, but make them fashion.
Urban Cool Meets Rebel Heart
This one hits like a bass drop in K-pop music. A white oversized hoodie, thigh-skimming, layered with an equally oversized denim jacket is an attitude screaming look. But the kicker? The patent over the knee boots. This is Gorpcore meets Aespa level confidence down there. It’s a cold-weather remix on Acubi-inspired energy – where comfort lives next to edge. The beanie and rectangular sunglasses also double down on the don’t-mess-with-me vibe.
Each piece in this outfit has a function. The hoodie is a cozy base – practical, gender neutral & warm. The denim jacket helps add structure and just the right touch of the women trends street heritage. The boots are doing the most (in the best way), transforming what could’ve been a chill outfit into something sharp and runway-ready. If I were creating a winter wardrobe from scratch, this combo would be very high on my list of trendy fashions.
When I wore a similar combo in Brooklyn last year, people literally stopped me and asked about the boots. I’d stick with a puffer over denim to style them, however the formula is the same: casual base, heavy hitters top and bottom. Fashion influencer Brittany Xavier once mentioned that, “a good pair of boots can carry your whole outfit” and clearly, this is what she meant.
I’d probably layer some fleece tights underneath if temps got too low. Or maybe even change the hoodie for a Shoujo-style knit dress to go deeper into that playfully feminine look-with-attitude moment. Who says you can’t do drama and warmth?
The Power Puffer in Vivid Red
This one’s like hot cocoa with chili – warm and cozy, but totally unexpected. A glossy, fire-engine-red puffer jacket brings the drama, while straight-legged jeans and crisp white sneakers keep the drama grounded. If we’re talking about winter outfits 2025-2026, this is one of those “throw on and turn heads anyway” kind of outfits. There’s something very Soft dramatic here – a brash piece dressed simply so that all the impact is on the silhouette and hue.
The red puffer makes a good case for an investment for color this season. Neutrals may reign supreme but this is proof that color type dressing isn’t just for spring. Paired with light wash denim and platform sneakers, it’s a casual cool that doesn’t try too hard. The fit of the puffer, oversized and cinched in at the neck, gives structure that’s flattering on so many body types – including Slavic builds and beyond.
My best friend – who normally wears camel coats and gray wool – saw me in a red puffer like this last January and actually said, “Okay, I need to be braver.” That stuck with me. Color can do that. It nudges you to new moods, to new energy. Like the editors at Vogue never fail to remind us, “Bold outerwear is your winter statement piece.” Let it speak.”
Personally, I’d finish this off with a tiny crossbody bag in the same colour family or in a contrasting one in matte leather. Just a little texture play to get the whole to pop.
Refined Cool for the Modern Minimalist
You know that feeling when you finally get the perfect black turtleneck? This is that moment on repeat outfit. Clean lines, neat tailoring and just a touch of bling with that snappy, chain-link belt. It’s structured without being stiff. Polished without being prim. This is Stockholm style women meets Coquette minimalism – and I’m so here for it.
What’s working here is the balanced silhouette: wide sleeves + high waist jeans + clean booties. The belt adds just enough sparkle to break up the black and the small purse? Pure class. This is how you build the foundation for women who want their trends to have a longevity greater than a TikTok cycle. It’s timeless with a twist.
I’ve always thought that a black turtleneck was the hard work horse of any winter closet. It layers. It sharpens. It conceals that coffee stain from this morning. And when combined with vintage inspired jeans and sleek boots, it becomes something quietly powerful. I read in Elle that “black on black is the new colorblocking” – this is why.
If I was dressing this look for colder days, then I’d be working in a long line coat of wool to a charcoal or rich forest green. That way, you remain within the neutral family, but inject a hint of seasonal colour.
Oversized Outerwear with Street Couture Vibes
Okay, this one is giving high fashion a throwback Thursdays. The oversized zip-up coat dominates, pulled up tight enough at the waist to not swallow the figure. Paired with sleek patent boots as well as a micro handbag? This is cold freezing snow casual the runway way. You could wear this straight off a Seoul fashion week show and nobody would even blink twice. It’s big Igari meets Japan at its most wearable.
This is the type of look that gives your winter outerwear rotation a serious upgrade. The big-for-big appearance isn’t slothful – it’s curated. The boots add shine and structure and the mini bag pulls it all together like the period at the end of a strong sentence. For 2025 and 2026, expect to see this silhouette over and over again in street style galleries.
One thing I love about this sort of coat is that it plays nice with anything underneath. A thermal and mini dress? Done. Sweats and a turtleneck? Still chic. This is the jacket that you can get creative with and keep you wrapped up in comfort.
I’d probably pair this with big gold hoops or maybe sleek bun just like this. Something that says: “Yes, I’ve got errands, but I’m doing them in style.” Because, really—why not?
Futuristic Chill with Street Power
There is something magnetic about deep navy and shiny metallics. This look takes a bomber jacket (pure cold-weather streetwear) and makes it look great when combined with liquid-looking thigh-high boots in electric blue. It’s a little Aespa, a little Cutecore, and very much in the direction 2026 should be heading: a higher edge. If you saw this walking down the street in a snowy city, you’d look the other way – and probably ask where the boots are from.
Let’s keep it simple: the bomber jacket keeps things down to earth – insulated, masculine, timeless. Paired with a mini black long sleeve tee underneath, proportions look modern and functional. But those boots? They steal the scene. They’re what you wear when you want your winter wardrobe to make you talk back. It’s like trend fashion got its super-hero moment.
This style of appearance is not only designed for the runway. I recall wearing a metal cobalt accessory (a bag, actually) last year and receiving three compliments in one hour. Now multiply that energy by boots. Fashion editor Jenna Rosenstein said recently that “metallics are no longer night-time-only rules – they’re the new daytime neutrals. That sums this up perfectly.
A structured crossbody or even a silver puffer scarf would finish this look like punctuation. The message is loud and clear: women don’t have to choose between drama and comfort. We get both now.
Golden Luxe with Playful Softness
This is warmth with whimsy. The golden-honey faux fur coat is the catalyst – playful, utterly plush, and almost theatrical. But the details are what make it real: oversized brown trousers, a sculptural headband and a caramel bucket bag. It dips its toe firmly into Coquette territory but there are rumblings of Soft natural, and even Slavic, beauty. Imagine the nobility of today walking through a snow-covered Christmas market.
I love the color palette that is inspired by dessert hues – golden sugar, espresso, warm cocoa. This is what makes it comfortable to wear. The headband brings a dose of drama (yes, grown women can wear them – it’s all down to the texture) and the trousers keep it mature and city-friendly. If Shoujo was grown up, and working in publishing, and had a wardrobe full of gorgeous texture, this would be it.
Truth? I have a fur in dusty blush that is similar and it is always noticed. But gold? Gold is the moment. According to Harper’s Bazaar, soft gold outerwear is a “cold months top-tier dopamine piece” – and I’d have to agree.
A simple swap? To accentuate the softness, wear oversized sunglasses or wear a pearl earring. It strikes me as a perfectly pitched look, and I wouldn’t touch anything more.
Retro Luxe with Slavic Roots
There is something about this jacket that seems inherited – but for the right reasons. This caramel faux fur coat is thick, plush, and appears to be old money, even if you just bought it yesterday. Combined with slim jeans and accessories, it perfectly captures the aura of this quiet-luxury women’s fashion trend, which is dominating 2025-2026. Imagine the snowflakes beginning to fall on these shoulders and melting away into heat.
The most important aspect of this is the restraint. Nothing is out of place, but everything seems purposeful – from the sunglasses to the oversized brown clutch. This is your perfect “wear everywhere” winter look for the gallery walk, date night, or errand running in style. And timelessly Slavic in its elegance, unassuming, and simple.
My great-aunt, in Kyiv, she had such a coat. I remember when I was a kid and I used to sneak into the closet of my grandma just to touch it. These coats are more than just clothing; they are a touch of texture, a reminder of their presence, a part of your fashion history. According to stylist Dani Michelle, “texture is the new print” in cold weather and this outfit hits the mark.
I would probably wear a ribbed turtleneck under it in burnt orange or oxblood red as a contrast. Straighten out the jacket and let it tell the story. Either way, this article makes winter feel like a time of indulgence, not just survival.
Playful Street Wild in Cozy Layers
Spotted: an attitude statement of “city girl on a coffee run” with maximum attitude. The white hoodie under a leopard print faux fur coat is worn alongside classic jeans and a beige baseball cap. Casual? Yes. Boring? Absolutely not. It’s a rework of the classic snow-cold style and it’s totally what the Cutecore would wear in NYC after a night out to the strip club.
The beauty is in the contrast: sporty meets glam, with a dose of college-casual thrown in. The hoodie is for functionality and warmth, but the coat is for confidence. The cap is a perfect messy-hair solution for busy days, and the structured leather bag adds an elevated flair to the overall look. This is trendy fashion without the overbearing effort.
I went out in something like this during a snowstorm in Philly. I was out here in snow-leopard energy, while everybody else was wrapped in dark puffers. “Literally, one woman yelled across the street, ‘You win winter!’ In fact, that moment is rent free in my mind.
Couple this with chunky sneakers or even Chelsea boots and you have an outfit that’s as easy to wear from the supermarket to brunch. Don’t think too hard, that’s what makes it great.
Heritage Shearling with a Modern Edge
Last but not least – this shearling-lined leather coat is the ultimate combination of heritage and 2025 modernity. Oversized, warm, and deeply nostalgic, it brings that Gorpcore meets luxury energy to the forefront. Coupled with a simple tee shirt, black trousers and gold hoops? It’s a soft flex that does not warrant raising one’s voice.
This coat is a closet staple, but it feels fresh thanks to the exaggerated collar and volume. The structure is subtle but powerful and it gives the Soft dramatic silhouette that we are seeing all over women street style galleries from Paris to LA. This can be worn dressed up or dressed down – with trousers and loafers or joggers and New Balances.
I’ve had a decades-old shearling coat and every time I wear it out someone asks if it’s designer. There is a reason they have endured over time. Fashion writer, Pandora Sykes once wrote, “The real luxury of winter is having something that makes you want the weather to snow.” This is that piece.
I would probably include a crossbody bag with metal accents or some stackable rings. But honestly? The coat is already a lot of work. It’s an instant classic.
Combat Chic with Arctic Precision
There’s something deliciously grounded about putting a structured shearling-lined aviator jacket with some cargo pants and some stompy combat boots. This outfit represents the heartbeat of Gorpcore; practical fashion elevated with details and fit. Add the beanie, dark sunglasses and petite black handbag and we’re staring at a winter street style lesson from the school of Stockholm style women – minimalist but quietly magnetic.
What makes this shine is the balance. The wide jacket toned down the masculinity of the cargo pants and the platform boots gave height without sacrificing stability. You could wear this for a museum date or mountain town get away and it would still work. Plus, everything is practical – deep pockets, real insulation, unfussy shapes.
I tried almost this exact outfit in Berlin last February and not only did I feel invincible in the sub-zero temps, I felt seen. The compliments from strangers were one thing – but the comfort was on another level. This is the cold freezing snow casual that Instagram girls dream of pulling off. And now, you can.
Add a crossbody with some technical elements or silver chain strap for a subtle flash. Or don’t. This one’s complete on its own.
Effortless Volume with City Swagger
A white hoodie. Pale blue oversized jeans. Timberland-style boots. Topped off with rich, chocolate shaggy faux fur coat. Tell me this doesn’t sound like a warm hug dipped in Gen-Z confidence. This look hits the intersection of Soft dramatic and downtown cool – it’s oversized and composed, casual and camera-ready. Think Aespa being late for a rehearsal in NYC.
The hoodie anchors the look with warmth and approachability, while the coat of fur makes it a full-blown moment. The jeans? Wide, unapologetic, laid-back. And the boots? Icy sidewalks don’t stand a chance. This whole outfit gives women a way to make volume in winter feel modern – playful but still powerful.
I’ve always believed that there shouldn’t be a tradeoff between layering and silhouettes. When I’m in pieces like this I feel free to move, slouch, sit, run. And isn’t that kind of ease what winter style is supposed to be all about?
I might toss in some oversized gold hoops or a puffer bag in tan for some extra texture. But go without and this look lives well.
Minimalist Tracksuit with Heritage Plaid
This is how women trends evolve: from matching sweats to full-blown power cozy uniforms. This cocoa brown hoodie & wide legged sweatpant combo paired with a traditional plaid scarf is the high low outfit of 2026. The tonal dressing, the drape, the perfectly balanced accessories – it’s like the grown up cousin of loungewear, ready for streetwear stardom.
The beauty lies in the simplicity. The scarf is giving timeless British prep, and the brown on brown is Soft natural done right. And let’s talk silhouette – wide pants, structured shoulders on the hoodie, soft ballerina flats? Winter’s comfort zone just got redrawn.
When I saw this exact combination of tones in the streets of Milan it stuck with me. The softness of the shades, the slight slouch- it was so elegant without even trying. That’s the magic of trend fashion as long as it meets quiet confidence.
I’d add some oversized pieces of gold jewelry or even a sleek low bun to keep things refined. Keep your make-up glowy and minimal. The doing the heavy lifting by the outfit.
Artic Absurdism with a Fashion Twist
This one isn’t just fashion – it’s performance. A complete white faux fur coat enveloping the head and shoulders with casual grey sweatpants and plain white sneakers. This is part Igari, and part snow-creature dreamscape. It breaks every rule and that’s exactly why it’s part of the story of winter outfits 2025-2026.
Is it wearable? Surprisingly, yes. The white-on-grey combo is heavily on-trend while the textures complementary to the bulk. This is a silhouette that embraces volume with intention – warm, wild and impossible not to look at. It directs the boldness of Japan streetwear, but keeps it within reach for adventurous women.
At one time I wore a big fat furry hood on fashion week (like this one, maybe, and even in the freezing wind it felt like I was in my own little cloud). That’s the vibe. It’s drama, but drama that asks nothing of you.
Add sharp contrast with some neon nails or icy rings if you want. Or stay all in the snow palette. This one’s pure aesthetic cold weather expression.
Minty Fresh Glam in the Cold
This icy mint shag coat worn with light denim and cozy tan Ugg-style boots is bringing back that cozy chic nostalgia we all missed. Add a Chanel quilted handbag and suddenly you’ve got casual with expensive energy. It’s very Coquette with influencer off-duty. And yes – it works as well for early errands as it does for late lunches.
The textures here are dreamy. Softness, softness in the coat, fluff, fluff in the boots, smooth quilting in the bag. It’s giving Soft natural winter fantasy What stops this from veering too sweet is the balance; clean lines, thoughtful colour palette and a classic black handbag to bring it all down to earth.
I did wear some pastel outerwear once on a trip to Oslo, and was shocked at how flattering it was. We don’t give soft colors enough credit on icy light. This look makes a pretty good case for rotating colors other than neutrals.
Layering by adding oversized sunglasses or just a simple turtleneck underneath. This is that “effortlessly pretty” aesthetic – without losing out on comfort or warmth.
Cold Layering With City Energy
I don’t know about you, but almost as soon as the temperature starts to flirt with freezing, my layering game kicks into overdrive. Here, we’re looking at a bold, urban combination of cozy meets cool – anchored by a snow white faux fur jacket that screams “don’t mess with my comfort”. The over size silhouette adds that perfect Soft Dramatic edge and the cuffed charcoal jeans balance out the volume with street wise ease. The chestnut lug-sole boots? An unexpected but genius touch that grounds the entire look with a little winter utilities – hello Gorpcore influence.
This combo is the holy grail of aesthetic cold weather dressing – puffy, textural and wildly tactile. Faux fur has made it clear it has staked its claim for 2025 especially when coupled with utilitarian shapes and more muted palettes. I like in the boots, keeping them chunky and the denim relaxed. It’s a nod to the Stockholm style female wearing where comfort is never at the expense of edge. Bonus tip: Look for faux fur with longer pile – since you don’t want to get overheated.
One thing that really stuck with me was something stylist Allison Bornstein said recently where she said: “It’s not about looking styled, it’s about feeling elevated.” This outfit sums up that philosophy quite perfectly. It’s the sort of outfit that turns households errands into a runway walk. Yes, even if you’re only getting coffee.
If I were to add one thing here? Maybe some oversized headphones slung around the neck or a thick knit intelligently colored beige beanie. It’s not about accessories shouting for attention-but adding to the story with what is really just enough to complete it.
Retro Catwalk Meets Cozy Slush Life
Now this is a winter look that says ‘I woke up fabulous.’ Black leather aviator jacket with white shin trim perfectly delivers on energy for 2026 – channeling acubi minimalism, but with Cutecore fluffiness! But what really gets me smiling is the wide leg leopard pants. Yes, animal print is here, here, here! This combo has everything I need in trend fashion – heritage, rebellion and winter warmth.
I’ve been having a love-hate with animal prints over the years but lately they seem less gimmicky and more iconic. Pairing them with shearling is actually genius – it tones down the wild with the coziness. These neutrals are also friendship super color types because: if you’re on the warmer spectrum, they’re going to glow against your skin. That structured bucket bag gives that just-right hit of polish. And those UGG-inspired boots? Peak cold freezing snow casual.
This one reminds me of a friend who relocated from NYC to Minneapolis. Her whole vibe shifted – she said “Minnesota made me rediscover how fun winter dressing can be.” There’s something deeply satisfying to leaning into texture and print when the skies go gray.
And honestly if you’ve been stuck on skinny jeans and parkas, try this formula – printed wide legs, shearling jacket, and some easy boots. ในปี first part Keep the rest minimal, and let your confidence fill the space.
Animal Instinct in a Tailored Shell
Let’s talk power coats. This one right here? She’s roaring. The large tiger-striped wool coat is an instant conversation starter offset by ivory trousers and a neutral turtleneck. This is how you do women trends without screaming The slicked back hair, oval sunglasses and belt bag across the chest draw all the lines in a jarring, Shoujo slant with an edge of Japan cool.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen clients sleeping on patterns of animals in coats. The trick is to treat it as if it were a neutral- which it is. You can build around a tiger coat the same as you would a camel. It’s loud, yes, but if you are having a base that is soft beige and cream, the whole look goes into quiet luxury territory. The white sneakers keep things down to earth with cold city practicality, and pastel blue socks are the unexpected softness.
Hailey Bieber’s stylist Maeve Reilly once said: “An outfit should always have contrast – structured vs soft, fitted vs loose, neutral vs bold.” This one hits all the marks.
Would I tweak anything? Maybe layer in a scarf in a saturated primary color – red or cobalt to punch it up even further. But actually this is already pure winter street style poetry.
Electric Blue & Vintage Cream
I gasped when I saw this coat. Bright and electric blue faux shearling with creamy vintage lining? Yes. Please. This is coquette meets Slavic princess the best way possible. Everything about this look is bold softness. The ivory trousers and matching sneakers keep the base calm and allow the coat to be allowed to sing. It’s nostalgic, but never costume-y.
I’ve always said – if you’re going to wear color in the winter, go all in. This coat would look just as stunning thrown over a full monochrome look or blessed with clashing tones. It executes a style that reminds me of Igari, where statement pieces are worn with a wink. Plus, oversized lapels like this can flatter a soft natural body type by adding some focus up top.
Last year I thrifted a cobalt vintage ski jacket and my life changed in terms of winter weather; in fact, it completely changed. Color has that power. It brightens you and honestly? It brightens others too. There’s something infectious about putting on joy.
For those who are shy when it comes to color, start with outerwear. It doesn’t need coordinating for it. Just add it on top and go. And don’t forget – confidence is your best accessory.
Chocolate Cherry Knit Energy
Knits are going through an absolute renaissance for 2025 and this striped midi dress is giving everything it needs to give. Ribbed texture, sculptured sleeves, and warm color type of blocks of cocoa, pink, and beige. This is modern femininity with a twist-and flatter than a dream. It’s got the softness of Aespa stagewear and the elegance of a grown woman that knows what works.
Dresses like this are your secret weapon during the winter. It is a bit like a blanket that flatters. I’d go with tall boots just like this however, or switch for sleek white sneakers and a cropped puffer for more cold freezing snow casual days. The large leather handbag and geometric earrings help to keep things chic and structured. And yes it’s all about vertical lines this season – flattering and elongating.
What I love is that it also works as a transitional wear into early spring. Throw a trench over it? You’re done. Wear it around the house and then right to dinner? Absolutely.
If I had to change one thing, I guess my option would have been maybe adding a big belt to cinch in the waist and break the stripes a little bit. But really, this one is solid. And so wearable across the ages – it doesn’t scream, it sings.
Quiet Luxe With a Fluted Twist
The first thought that crossed my mind when I saw this look was of the core of the Stockholm style women – clean, architectural and emotionally neutral in the best way. It’s a total all-charcoal meets soft peplum sweater and fluted midi skirt moving like poetry. The silhouette is soft but strong, embracing the body without being restrictive. The glossy black boots give depth and just a hint of outrageous.
Wardrobe Building: This set is a total triumph for Soft Natural body types. The dropped shoulder makes it easy, and the structured rib at the hips creates the impression of form without constriction. This type of attire is day to dinner. Just change the handbag from errand day bag to dinner night clutch.
I once wore something similar to a show opening in downtown wearing charcoal, and felt like I had walked into a Celine mood board. These tonal outfits are the wintery equivalent of a quiet luxury – no logos, no loud prints just materials and silhouette. It’s a look that whispers.
Would I change anything? Maybe string a fine gold chain around the collarbone or wear it with a slate gray coat for total monochrome effect. Or just keep it this minimal. Sometimes simple indeed is the true flex.
Glamour Meets Galactic Knit
Now, these are winter outfits 2025-2026 that have a twist alright, literally. The body-hugging design of the fine rib-knit dress is tight like second skin, but it’s the dramatic bell sleeves and space-age silver boots that give this look its magical vibe. It is part Soft Dramatic, part futuristic femme fatale and 100% memorable. A reliable friend to turn to if you have a longing for glamour in the middle of grey December.
Knit dresses are the talk of women’s fashion trends this year, but what makes all the difference is the details – the oversized cuff adds a dimension and movement to the outfit. As for the metallic boots? Totally inspired by recent Aespa style. Hyper-feminine: A hyper-feminine style with a cyber twist. Combine this with a silver clutch (or even daring red lip) and you have a holiday look that doesn’t take much effort.
A brief fashion history, a friend of mine wore boots like these in silver on NYE and people literally stopped her on the sidewalk. The good thing about a metallic statement is that it will make magic in combination with pastel shades.
I wouldn’t change a thing here. This form and fantasy combination is already taken. Just remember the confidence because that’s the most glowing thing you can wear.
Cozy Cool in Emerald Chunky Knit
When deep winter strikes and the wind chafes a little too much, there’s nothing more soothing than a chunky sweater that feels like a hug. This forest green turtleneck oversized sweater fits major Gorpcore-meets-Scandi vibes. The oversized stitch, the slouch, the earth-toned palette – this is the sort of sweater you wear when you bike to the market with your headphones in, and there’s hot tea back home.
The huge knits are also con artists of fashion. Wear them with leggings and UGGs for a full on cold freezing snow casual, or with pleated wool trousers and loafers when heading into a meeting The color? Beautiful on cool undertones – especially Brunettes. And the extreme cut means you don’t even need a coat, even if the weather isn’t extreme.
Last season, I stayed away from these types of heavy knits because I believed they would drown me. But if you balance them with something slim or structured below (like a sleeked back bun and small hoop earrings) the proportions work beautifully.
If you are developing a winter capsule wardrobe, invest in a statement turtleneck like this. The look for mohair blends-they’re warmer, softer and look more high-end than standard acrylics.
Pom-Pom Play and Silky Swagger
This is where Cutecore meets the concept of luxury loungewear – and somehow it works. The oversized pom-pommed olive green knit sweater is pure whimsy, but chic underneath in satin wide-leg trousers. This color-on-color play is actually very wearable and adds a little bit of personality that winter clothes often don’t get.
I know not everyone is into pom-poms, but this is how to make them as an adult. The knit lingers in that high fashion trend category because of the cropped turtleneck and slightly dropped shoulder. Paired with satin trousers in a complementary shade of green, the look is equally beautiful and ready for city strolls or dinner dates.
Years ago, I would have seen this sweater and thought “too quirky”. But now? I see texture, play, and slight unexpected joy. It’s fashion that doesn’t take itself too seriously and it’s refreshing.
Then grab some creamy pointed boots and boxy mini bag and this is a fashion editorial. Or, for extra drama, wear oversized sunglasses for that high-drama midday look.
Retro Grid and Downtown Calm
There’s something hypnotic about geometrical patterns executed properly and this burgundy-and-rose color-blocked knit dress does it perfectly. The grid print is tough but feminine, the fit is snug but not exaggerated, and those high black leather boots add structure. It’s offering modern working woman, Slavic chic and perhaps a hint of the Shoujo vintage.
This is the type of dress that I would wear on a day that is filled with meetings and I will still feel put together when dinner eventually comes. The winter feel is maintained with a mid-length of the pocket, and the pattern is distinctive enough to make it memorable without being busy. This shape would belong to someone with a Soft Dramatic body type, it’s smooth and trim and elongated.
I see this as a higher elementary. One of those “just throw it on and go” type of pieces where it appears as though you tried, even though you didn’t. And really we all need more of that.
If I had to tweak it? Or maybe incorporate a statement lip or a structured coat with strong shoulders to enhance the silhouette. But even without, this look holds on strong.
